Being mindful of what you eat is the first step to a healthy lifestyle. Here are a few tips you can use to change the eating habits of your life. It would be a change that you would never regret in your life. Though initially you might find it a little hard to make these changes, with time you will get used to it and when experiencing its benefits, you shall be more motivated.

Meal Prepping

As we all lead very busy lives, we tend to eat from out rather than home cooked food. But it is a known fact that it is always better to eat from home than out. This way, you can control what you add and don’t add to your food. What usually happens is we come home late after work and are too tired to cook anything, therefore orders something from a restaurant.

But what if the meal is already prepared and all you have to do is take it out from the refrigerator and heat it up and eat? This would make things much easier. Make sure you have all your best kitchen appliances to cook and prep all the meals.

On Sunday or another free day, you must spend time cooking, and storing in containers. For example, you can store some stir fried vegetables, chicken and rice in one box. The boxes must have partitions to separate the different food so they don’t mix and get spoilt.

You repeat this for 7 days by making 7 different boxes and store away until they are ready to be consumed on that day. You can do this not only for dinner but for breakfast, lunch and even snacks. It is a very good way of ensuring that you make your own food controlling the ingredients and also for portion control.

Being Mindful Of Nutrition

Food is essential for life but not all food has the same nutritious value. Some are rich in proteins while others rich in carbohydrates. Of course, all must be consumed but some more than others. For example, there are healthy fats such as fish oil, avocado and olive oil which is good for us. But saturated fats in fried food is very bad for us. Therefore, they should be avoided. Vegetables and fruits must be consumed in large quantities. If you’re a vegan, you won’t be getting enough vitamin b12, in which case you must take them as supplementation. It is never too late to change your eating habits and turn a new leaf in your new and healthy life.
